Ministry Philosophy

The goal of Hope Kids is to lead children to follow Jesus in every part of life. This means that everything we do is gospel-centered: whether we are praying over or with a child, teaching and learning together during lesson time, facilitating discussion and discipleship, or connecting with new and returning families. Every child matters- no matter their age, cognitive ability, or physical ability- and we strive to provide an environment that is safe, inclusive, and effective.

Children’s ministry is not childcare - it is a vital ministry that is a step of obedience, following the biblical command in Scripture to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20). It is also a way that we can follow the command to be imitators of Christ (Ephesians 5:1) through the emphasis He placed on children while here on earth (Matthew 19:14, Matthew 18:1-5, Mark 10:15-16).

Mission

We want our children to follow Jesus in every part of life by gathering in community, growing in Christ, and going to tell others the good news of Jesus!

Gather: Scripture emphasizes the role of living in community with fellow believers. We want our children to experience firsthand the support of community within the body of Christ, by developing relationships with peers and teachers that will point them to Jesus, and by providing opportunities for them to share God’s continuing work in their own lives for the encouragement of others. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

Grow: Jesus is the friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). We want our children to understand and experience a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ in community with other children (1 John 1:7, John 15:1-11)

Go: The Holy Spirit has given every believer gifts and abilities, which are to be used in service to Christ’s kingdom (1 Corinthians 14:12). We want our children to experience the joy of serving and seeing their gifts used for His glory and sharing the hope of the Gospel with the world around them! (John 9:24, Matthew 28:18-20)

Vision

Hope Bible Chapel Children’s Ministry serves to lead children to follow Jesus in every part of life, by intentionally modeling God’s love in both word and deed. This happens through the fostering of intentional relationships that encourage and equip; sound teaching of Scripture; consistent modeling of prayer; and regular support of parents, grandparents, and/or guardians.
